Description: The Wandering Glider can probably be found throughout NB but is probably more common in coastal areas (It is actually found throughout the world).   It is a migrant species which is capable of gliding (hence the name) due to it's broad hindwings.   It breeds in temporary pools and the female lays her eggs by tapping the surface of the water with the tip of her abdomen (often while the males are still holding on to them).

They are a fairly large skimmer (about 2 inches in length) and are very swift and agile flyers which rarely seem to perch; however, they are relatively easy to identify in flight due to their yellowy-orange abdomens with a dark stripe down the back, pale orange face and red eyes.
